It’s Horseshoe Crabs…and They’re Here to Save Us
I have an irrational fear of Horseshoe Crabs, but apparently they are a very useful tool for biomedical research. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration: “A compound in the crab’s blood is used by the pharmaceutical industry to test intravenous drugs, as well as prosthetics, for bacteria.”
